Oysters shells
London, United Kingdom
- Type of waste
- agricultural
Like any big capital city, it imports food from all over the country to serve in restaurants with a diverse array of cuisines and styles and some homes. The oyster, a delicacy plate, can be found in many high-class spots all over the city. But where does this foreign waste go? And what can we do about it?
A drop in the ocean
This project aims to combat ocean acidification. After use, the products dissolve harmlessly within 14 days and can be used as soil fertilizer. The production process includes collecting oyster shells, treating and grinding them, and mixing them with olivine and alginate to form a biodegradable, low-environmentally impactful material.
