Oysters shells
Barcelona, Spain
- Type of waste
- agricultural
In the last decade the consumption of this muscle has shot up by 145%, and there are few fancy restaurants that deny this very precious treat. For many Spaniards, Barcelona has become the referent spot to find yummy oyster restaurants. It's wide selection of bars, from new and modern to classic, makes it so that oyster shells have become a readily available and highly abundant waste.
REDDO
Reddo, developed by Francesco Lucini (IED Barcelona), is a speculative project that, through digital technologies and additive manufacturing, proposes reusing this waste to create 3D-printed structures that act as supports for marine regeneration. Using the Ebro Delta as a case study, Reddo proposes solutions that promote the growth of posidonia.
