For many Italians starting your day without a cup of espresso is unthinkable. In Milano the classic coffee culture blends with the new one, allowing for an array of coffee shops to spread all over the city center. However, this designer plagues city has noticed the consequences of this, sparking many projects using this wonderful waste.

Coffefrom

Coffeefrom® is an startup that transforms coffee grounds from the food industry into new materials and designer products. Using a supply chain based on the circular economy, the resulting material is a bioplastic (PLA) that incorporates 10% to 20% coffee waste. This material, with its unique color and texture, is used to create products such as an espresso cup and saucer set, developed in collaboration with the design studio Whomade.
