In Spain in particular olive trees plantations take up over 2,7 million hectares and in turn over 430.000 tons of Olive pits are produced each year. This waste has been historically always given a second use as biofuel in the south of Spain where over 100.000 houses are heated thanks to this biowaste. Furthermore with new technologies and the rise in biodesign this material has grown in popularity sparking new and original projects.
