Olive waste

Apulia, Italy

Type of waste
agricultural

Apulia, Italy, as well as other regions in the south of Europe suffered from a spread of xylella fastidiosa, a plant-pathogenic bacteria. Since 2013 the bacteria has spread and killed over 21 million olive oil trees in the Apulia Region. This left the land with dead unsuitable wood from olive trees, waiting to be used in some other project.

Ulïètu

Ulïètu, by Francesca Daloiso, is a collection of surface panels reflecting the traumatic effect of xylella fastidiosa, one of the most dangerous plant-pathogenic bacteria in the world. The bacteria dehydrate trees causing leaf scorch, wilt, die-back and ultimately plant death
